About 9 years have passed since Attack on Titan, formerly known as Shingeki no Kyojin, originally debuted and captivated the anime community. It is frequently referred to as the Game of Thrones of anime, yet unlike GOT, the last season of AOT has been utterly mind-numbing and brilliant. The one-hour Season 4 Part 3 special that aired on March 3 is the saga’s second-to-last episode, with one more to go. The two chapters of the one-hour show were titled “The Rumbling” in Chapter 1 and “Sinners” in Chapter 2. The first episode of Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 aired on the NHK local Japanese network on March 4, 2023, at 12:25 am Japanese Standard Time. Fans of the show were eagerly anticipating the publication of the aforementioned episode on the different streaming services accessible in their region and had been expecting for a simulcast; instead, the episode was released several hours later than expected.

The good times are back as Attack On Titan returns for the final time, however, it won’t be the last since it will take a brief break before the Season 4 Part 3 finale. In essence, Season 4 Part 3 consists of just 2 episodes, the first of which is now available. The last episode, which will air this fall, will follow. So, the decision was made to complete the narrative with merely two epic specials rather than a number of episodes. The fact that we have to wait a while longer to see how this epic drama end is incredibly sad and irritating.
In essence, AOT Season 4 Part 3 can be thought of as a collection of the final two AOT films. The Last Chapters: Special 2—which possibly includes the final two or three chapters—will follow The Final Chapters: Special 1, which was the first installment. It’s a good thing that it has been confirmed to return this year. It has been established that the show will return in the fall, which is between October and December. Therefore, in any case, we still have a long wait of about 6 months until we get to witness the conclusion.
The conclusion may run between 70 and 90 minutes, which would make it slightly longer than the first special. But it may take longer than an hour to wrap everything up, this is only a hunch based on the fact that there is still some action and drama to unfold. In the last moments of the previous special, the majority of the cast dove directly onto Eren’s Titan, an injured Levi returned to action, Reiner changed into the Armored Titan mid-flight to leap onto the Beast Titan, and Armin delivered a particularly funny statement after touching down.
Where To Watch?
Within a few hours of the episodes’ initial airing on the NHK Japanese network on March 4, 2023, at 00:25 JST, the Attack On Titan Season 4 part 3 episode 1 subbed version became available online on streaming services including Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. When Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 is released, which is anticipated to happen in the fall of this year, part 3 episodes will also be made available on the aforementioned sites. If you really can’t wait for the episode to air, you may read the Attack on Titan manga’s conclusion on Viz Media’s website or on Shuesia’s Shonen Jump app.

Attack on Titan FUNIMATION
If you can’t tell from my title, it’s a bit of a running joke just how long Attack on Titan has dragged out what it calls its “final season,” but in reality it’s really just a bunch of smaller seasons all strung together endlessly.
Well, almost endlessly. After the premiere of Attack on Titan Final Season (Season 4) Part 3, we now know when the second half of Part 3 will premiere, or I guess you could call it Part 4? Unclear. But it has a release window, and yes, this is supposed to be the last batch of episodes.
It’s just been announced that Part 3, Part 2 will be out in Fall 2023, meaning we will not have to wait until 2024 for the final run of episodes barring any delays. So, for the “final season,” this is where we are:
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1 – December 2020
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 – January 2022
Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 – March 2023
Attack on Titan Sesaon 4 Part 3, Part 2 (Part 4?) – Fall 2023

The show is already up to 28 episodes in this “final season” which began two and a half years ago at this point, and may be closer to 50 episodes by the time all is said and done. Which essentially makes it three seasons contained within one season. I have no idea why they decided to do it that way, but it’s certainly one of the more absurd naming/release timing things I’ve seen in anime.
Anime series are known for experimenting with different airing formats. Demon Slayer, for instance, has gone down the road of doing theatrical releases for certain episodes, which made them half a billion dollars at the box office for the Mugen Train movie, so they’re doing the same thing for the Season 3, Swordsmith Village Arc premiere. Attack on Titan, meanwhile, is just doing this eternal final season and it remains as popular as ever, even as the plot takes weirder and weirder turns. I know many people who have read the manga are itching for people to reach the controversial ending, which now should be coming this fall.

Unless they decide to make a Final Season Part 3, Part 3 (Part 5), of course…
Update (3/5): Now that the Part 3 special episode has aired, we now know how it’s been recieved by fans. Pretty well, in fact! Here’s what this episode was about:“Ramzi and Halil, two refugee children, flee the approaching Colossal Titans as they surround the crowds of refugees. One year prior, Eren reflects on his previous experiences, and his future actions.”
Right now, with 23,000 votes in, The Final Chapters: Special 1 has a 9.6/10 on IMDB. That sounds high, and it is, but fans have been known to really, really rate Attack on Titan highly on here, making it one of the top-rated shows in the site’s history. A 9.6 out of 10 in the context of the full series actually only puts it inside the top 25 of all episodes, as eight different past episodes have garnered that score.
The highest rated episode of Attack on Titan is 2019’s Midnight Sun with a 9.9/10.
The lowest rated episode of Attack on Titan is 2014’s OVA: The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth with a 7.6/10. Nothing else is really even close to that, as it’s the lowest by a wide margin.
We’ll have to wait and see how other, future episodes fare in the grand scheme of the list here, but newer ones have definitely skewed higher overall.
